Decision framework for a non-trivial choice

You have a real decision to make and want a structured approach instead of going in circles.

Works best in: Claude

Help me think through this decision in a structured way.

The decision:
{{describe what you're deciding}}

What I think I want to do:
{{your gut answer, if you have one}}

What's making it hard:
{{the real friction — fear, uncertainty, sunk cost, etc.}}

Walk me through:
1. **Reframe** — am I asking the right question? What's the actual decision under this one?
2. **Options I might be missing** — sometimes the right move isn't either of the two I'm comparing
3. **Reversibility** — is this a Type 1 (reversible) or Type 2 (one-way door) decision? Calibrate the deliberation accordingly.
4. **Worst case for each option** — and could I live with it?
5. **What would I tell a friend in this situation?** — the answer that bypasses my own bias
6. **What's the smallest version I can commit to that earns me information?** — instead of all-in or nothing

Be direct. Don't just list pros and cons.
