Investor email: "We missed the numbers"

When you need to tell investors you missed a target in a way that maintains trust rather than erodes it.

Works best in: Claude

Write a "we missed the target" investor email.

What you committed to: {{metric + number}}
What you hit: {{actual result}}
Gap: {{$ or % off target}}
Honest reason: {{what actually happened — not the PR version}}
Recovery plan: {{what specifically you're doing differently, with timelines}}
When you expect to be back on track: {{month or milestone}}

Email should:
- Open with the miss in the first sentence — don't build up to it
- Give one clear explanation (not three excuses stacked)
- Present the recovery plan with specific actions, not optimism
- Note what you're not changing (shows judgment, not panic)
- Be 300-400 words — longer reads like damage control

Do not: over-explain, minimize, or forecast new targets without substance behind them. Investors can handle bad news. They can't handle being managed.
